Intro to Stagework

Instructors: Dave Strong and Justin Howe

Providing an introduction to theatre stage work, this class goes over basic fundamentals and the skills needed to feel comfortable performing in front of an audience. Discussions include but are not limited to the purpose of a table read, character development, understanding blocking, voice projection, interaction with other characters, teamwork among characters, and taking and understanding the director’s notes. Students learn about auxiliary support functions that are essential to a successful stage production, such as deciding what play to produce, auditions, vision, set design, set construction, stage management, the role of the stage crew, costume and make-up, and promotion of a show.

Leadership Fundamentals

Instructor: Wayne Chen

A contemplative practice in interpersonal and leadership development, this class introduces essential skills for thriving in both community life and in professional settings. Students explore how communication can become a path toward self-awareness and authentic connection, cultivating the ability to listen deeply, offer skillful feedback, and collaborate with clarity and compassion. Through role plays, group exercises, and personal reflection, students build confidence and presence in how they relate to others—within teams, friendships, and the workplace.

Beginning Quilting

Instructor: Michele Howard

In this beginning quilting class, students learn about all the quilting tools and how to use a sewing machine to create their own quilt. They are introduced to color, design, fabric cutting, and sewing quilt pieces together according to a pattern. Once the top is finished, they learn how to sandwich the top with batting and backing. Finally, they learn how to free motion and bind their quilt.

Awaken the Artist Within

Instructor: Tim Poma

Through guided exploration in a variety of mediums (watercolors, acrylic paint, colored pencils, and more), this class is a journey of self-discovery and creative awakening. Students are invited to listen deeply, explore freely, and express honestly. Together and alone, participants uncover the unique artistic voice that lives within each of us.
