The Arts Talk: On Materials, Inspiration, and Everything in Between with Zwia Lipkin
Ukiah, CA 95482
The Arts Initiative warmly invites you to The Arts Talk: On Materials, Inspiration, and Everything in Between with Zwia Lipkin, Monday, October 27, 12:15 – 1:45 pm, in the DRBU Building second-floor lounge. Sometimes our paths lead us in unexpected directions. In this talk, Lipkin will share her journey to becoming an art quilter, a journey that took her from an arts high school in Israel to living in Asia, to getting a PhD in California, to finally finding her way back to art and a lifelong passion for upcycled materials. Lipkin will discuss the wide range of things that inspire her work, and talk through the pieces and series in this exhibition, revealing the stories behind each one.
Zwia Lipkin is an artist who creates vibrant and intricate pieces using upcycled textiles. After an early interest in abstract art, she took a long break to pursue a PhD in Chinese history. She returned to her artistic practice by incorporating materials from FabMo, a Bay Area nonprofit, to create unique works that reflect on the world around her. Her art has since been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications.
