Join us for the first public presentation of the English translation of the Tathāgatagarbha Sūtra. This short Mahāyāna text uses evocative imagery and poetic language to convey the teaching of universal Buddha-nature. Over the last three semesters, students, alumni, and faculty of DRBU’s Translation Certificate Program have worked together to bring this text into lively and poetic English.

At this event, seven members of the DRBU community will take turns reading this text out loud. As we know from the sūtras, the Buddha’s teachings were meant to be heard. So, come and listen to the Buddha’s lively analogies for how although we may be covered by afflictions, we all have the Buddha nature inside us, waiting to be revealed.

Our readers: Dharma Master Jin Rou, Dharma Master Jin Zheng, President Susan Rounds, Professor Emeritus Ernest Waugh, Daniel Winner, Yidan Wang, Fedde de Vries.
