Whether you are beginning your culinary journey or seeking to deepen your relationship with food as a form of inner cultivation, this program offers a unique opportunity to explore the principles of Shojin in a contemplative environment. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and spaces are limited, so we encourage you to apply early.
We warmly welcome prospective students to experience the spirit of DRBU firsthand by scheduling a campus visit. During your visit, you’ll have the opportunity to tour the Sudhana Center, observe the kitchen environment, and engage in a personal conversation with Executive Chef Squire Davidson.

Applications for the DRBU Shojin Culinary Arts Certificate Program are now open. We invite individuals who are interested in plant-based cooking, mindful living, and spiritual practice to submit their applications.
Tuition & Financial Aid
The Shojin Culinary Arts Certificate Program is designed to be accessible and affordable. Below are the basic costs for the one-year program:
- Tuition: $7,000
- Room and Board: $8,500 per year
The residential component of the program is optional and available for students who require housing. The cost of room and board includes dormitory-style housing accommodations and vegetarian meals prepared in alignment with the program’s principles.
Dharma Realm Buddhist University is committed to supporting students through need-based financial aid, with policies comparable to those of DRBU’s degree programs. Students who wish to apply for financial aid must complete a financial aid application after being admitted.
