Position Summary

The Campus Life Assistant is a part-time position that supports student life beyond the classroom through active involvement with the Residential Life (Sudhana Center campus), the Student Activities, and the Work-Study departments. This role helps foster a safe, welcoming, and engaged campus community by providing student support, assisting with events and activities, and helping ensure the smooth operation of residential, co-curricular, and work-study programs.

The ideal candidate is dependable, approachable, organized, and enjoys working closely with students while contributing to a positive campus experience.

Job Responsibilities

Residential Life & Work-Study Support

  • Maintain a regular and supportive presence in the Sudhana Center residence hall to help cultivate a positive and respectful living environment.
  • Serve as an accessible point of contact for residential students, providing basic support and directing concerns to appropriate Residential Life staff when necessary.
  • Help plan, facilitate, and support Residential Life events, dorm activities, and community-building programs.
  • Provide assistance with residence hall projects, initiatives, and operational needs.
  • Support administrative functions, including drafting and sending emails, announcements, and dormitory communications as needed.
  • Monitor and support work-study task completion and accountability within the residence hall as the Sudhana Center Work-Study Manager.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Student Activities Support

  • Provide transportation for student activities, events, local outings, day trips, and the annual camping trip as needed.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and implementing student activities and campus events.
  • Serve as an additional staff presence during programs and activities to help ensure successful event operations.
  • Help with event setup, coordination, logistics, and cleanup.
  • Attend and support Student Activities meetings as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Student Activities Team to encourage student participation and enhance the overall student experience
  • Other tasks as assigned.

General Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular communication with Residential Life, Student Activities, and Work-Study staff regarding ongoing projects, student needs, and event planning.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, discretion, and sound judgment in all interactions.
  • Be available to work occasional evenings and weekends to support campus programs and events.
  • Uphold university policies, community standards, and the values of Dharma Realm Buddhist University.
  • Contribute to creating a respectful, inclusive, and supportive campus environment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Supports the mission and values of DRBU and Campus Life
  • Spirit of service and dedication to supporting students
  • Self-motivated and able to follow through with minimal supervision
  • Good leadership skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet university requirements for driving university vehicles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff and students.
  • Dependable, organized, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in student leadership, residential life, event planning, customer service, or related roles.
  • Familiarity with DRBU campus life and student programs.
  • Basic administrative and organizational skills.
  • Positive attitude when faced with challenges
  • Able to work effectively in the DRBU & CTTB community culture

Salary: Starting at $19-20/hour; depending on experience
