This exhibition presents twelve ceramic reliefs by Lorraine Capparell, inspired by the life of the Buddha as narrated by Buddhist scholar Ronald Y. Nakasone. Through sculptural form, Capparell explores themes of impermanence, enlightenment, and interconnection, inviting reflection on the Buddha’s enduring teachings.

This artwork brings the compassionate spirit of Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva to life through vibrant, expressive illustrations by Blue Cedar. Inspired by Kṣitigarbha’s vow to protect all beings, the artwork reflects themes of kindness, generosity, and our connection with the Earth.

These serene, luminous illustrations by Blue Cedar, created when she was seventeen and inspired by a dream of the peaceful life of a young novice in an ancient Buddhist monastery. Painted while she was a novice herself, the works offer an intimate glimpse into monastic life through gentle imagery, quiet moments, and a youthful artist’s vision.

This collection presents photographs photographs by Stan Shoptaugh documenting the transformation of the DRBU Building from a historic, timeworn structure into a welcoming home for learning and community. Drawn to the building’s textures, natural light, and traces of history, Shoptaugh followed its transformation and the work of more than 200 craftspeople, capturing the gradual emergence of a space shaped by vision, care, and possibility.

This exhibition celebrates five decades of DRBU through three commemorative seals carved by artist Karen Tseng. Drawing on Chinese seal-carving traditions while embracing contemporary influences, the designs bring together symbolism, heritage, and place to honor the University’s roots, present vitality, and aspirations for the future.
